Languages
We aim to provide a relevant, vibrant, and ambitious foreign languages curriculum that inspires curiosity and confidence. Using the Language Angels scheme, our teaching covers a wide range of topics, themes, and cultural experiences to make language learning exciting and meaningful.
Our curriculum ensures pupils:
- Develop the four key skills – listening, speaking, reading, and writing
- Build strong foundations in grammar and vocabulary through age-appropriate learning
- Apply their knowledge confidently in different contexts, preparing for future study
We maintain a dynamic, progressive, and inclusive programme of study, reviewed annually to meet or exceed national expectations. Pupils learn to research unfamiliar language, use reference materials, and build a personal language bank that grows throughout their primary journey.
Learning a second language helps children:
- Explore identity and culture, developing respect and global awareness
- Improve communication and cognitive skills, supporting wider attainment
- Become lifelong language learners, ready for the next stage of education
Our ultimate aim is that pupils leave Key Stage 2 confident, curious, and motivated to continue learning languages beyond primary school.
