Our Computing Curriculum equips children with the knowledge and skills to be confident, creative and safe members of the digital world.
At Hethersett VC Primary School we recognise the value that a high quality computing curriculum can offer to our pupils.
All pupils are entitled to develop a wide range of fundamental skills, knowledge and understanding that will equip them for the rest of their lives. Computers and technology are an integral part of everyday life that our children would be disadvantaged should they not be exposed to a thorough and robust Computing curriculum.
When planning and teaching computing we believe that computing is an essential part of the curriculum; a subject that not only stands alone but is woven into all areas of learning. Computing is a fundamental part of everyone’s daily life and children should be at the forefront of new technology. Computing within school should provide a wealth of learning opportunities and transferrable skills across other curriculum subjects.
Our curriculum is supported by the Teach Computing curriculum developed by the National Center for Computing Education, funded by the Department for Education. You can learn more about the Teach Computing curriculum on their website.
Our computing curriculum aims to ensure that children will be digitally literate, equipped with the skills and knowledge to use technology effectively and – most importantly – responsibly.
